It Starts with the Heart (Mark 14:3-9)
Jesus said that the act of worship recorded in the focal passage would be spoken of wherever the gospel is preached. That’s a very strong statement, which Jesus certainly didn’t make lightly. But it isn’t what was done that captured our Lord’s attention. It was what motivated the action that made the difference. And it’s this motivation that should challenge every follower of Christ.
Give It All You Got (Mark 12:28-31)
When asked to give the greatest commandment, Jesus answered with a first and second. His simple message was that we are called to love God and love others. We’re to love God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This means our love and devotion for God will encompass all that we are. Our human relationships should also exhibit a “no holds barred” care and concern.
God Makes It Personal (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
God made a covenant with Israel at Mount Sinai, but they couldn’t keep it. God knew they would not be able to obey and honor Him. No one can do this in our initial sinful condition.
