Church is Not About You (Hebrews 10:24-25)
The church has often fallen into the modern trap of consumerism. Many attend wanting to know what’s in it for them. But the weekly gathering together of believers has a much different purpose. We are to see it as a time to encourage one another. And between the meetings, we need to make sure we’re connected and connecting.
The Salt of the Earth (Matthew 5:13-16)
Jesus intends for every one of His followers to flavor this world with His love. This has always been God’s plan. In order to be salt we cannot be divided in our loyalties. We must give our lives fully to Jesus Christ.
Wholehearted Obedience (Genesis 22:1-19)
God desires our complete yieldedness. It doesn’t matter whether things are going as we expect. He may require more of us than we think possible. But anything less than our full obedience shortchanges God’s plan.
Enjoying Jesus (1 Timothy 6:6)
We enjoy so many blessings in this life. But do you enjoy Jesus? It’s sort of a weird question. But the focal verse for this sermon tells us that godliness with contentment is great gain. When we’re saved, we can begin to put that plan into action. We belong to God. We’re saved for His purposes. Everything we do should lead back to this reality.
Loving Others (Philippians 2:3-5)
Pastor Chuck challenges believers to follow the example of Jesus Christ, who was the ultimate servant. Christians should strive to keep others, saved and unsaved alike, close in our hearts and minds. We should be like Jesus, putting others and their interests ahead of our own. The epitome of loving and caring for others is telling them about Jesus Christ and what He did for all of us on the cross.
Choose God (Joshua 24:13-15)
As Joshua gives his final address to the children of Israel, he challenges them to choose God and to keep Him central in their lives. In this sermon based on Joshua 24:13-15 Pastor Bruce shows that the same challenge exists for Christians in the 21st Century.
