An Encouragement (Philippians 4:4-9)

Life can be tough, whether there’s a pandemic or not. If you’re struggling, you can find peace and keep that peace in your life. Paul’s concluding remarks to the church at Philippi are an encouragement to anyone who needs that peace.

Satan Isn’t Staying at Home (1 Peter 5:8-9)

We may be abiding by the directives to keep our distance and stay at home, but Satan isn’t. He’s still using whatever and whoever he can to create havoc in this world. But we don’t have to sit idly by and let him disrupt our lives. Peter makes it clear in the focal passage for today that Jesus Christ has and always will have the upper hand.

Representing Jesus (James 3:13-18)

While the world seeks to offer us comfort, it actually ends up creating confusion. This is because the world’s system is geared toward self-centeredness. Jesus offers a better way. When you guide your life by His principles, you are able to experience peace. Even better, you can impart that peace to others.

The Way to Pray (Matthew 6:9-13)

Almost everyone has heard of the Lord’s Prayer, and many can recite it. The thing is, it’s really more of a model. In these trying days of COVID-19 a lot of people are praying. But do their prayers line up with the pattern Jesus taught?

Before and After (John 21:15-22)

Peter failed miserably the night before Jesus’ crucifixion. He had denied the Lord three times. There was no time to make amends. Jesus was dead, and the disciples were in total disarray. Then Jesus rose from the dead. And how Jesus dealt with Peter’s failure is an encouragement to us all.

Christians shouldn’t look like everybody else. Our lives should demonstrate Christ, not the world. But as we lead a life that pleases Christ, we demonstrate His love for us and for others.

Church is Not About You (Hebrews 10:24-25)

The church has often fallen into the modern trap of consumerism. Many attend wanting to know what’s in it for them. But the weekly gathering together of believers has a much different purpose. We are to see it as a time to encourage one another. And between the meetings, we need to make sure we’re connected and connecting.

How to Drink (John 7:37)

If you want to have a full life in Christ, you must really thirst for His living water. You need to come to Him wanting to be filled. And when you are filled, He expects that water to flow back out from you.
