What’s Your First Sentence? (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

Just as in Jeremiah’s day, people today value skill, power, and riches above just about everything else. In fact, many put their trust in these whether they possess them or someone else does. But where our trust and glory should rest is in our relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. All of this will pass away. But God and His righteousness are eternal.

Free Indeed (Colossians 1:13-14)

We were all born with a sin nature. Not only does this make us do wrong things, it enslaves us to sin. Jesus came to free us from that bondage. Through His death and resurrection those who trust in Him for salvation have been rescued from the power and influence of sin. God transfers us from the darkness of sin to His glorious kingdom.

The Power of God’s Presence (Isaiah 6:1-8)

Words cannot adequately describe Isaiah’s vision of the throneroom of God. What we do know is that he was confronted with God’s awesome holiness and power. Compared to this, Isaiah recognized his sinful condition. But God readily cleansed him and prepared him for service. Chances are you will not experience a vision like Isaiah’s. But if you are a true follower of Jesus you you can know God’s power and presence personally.

In Tune with Our Father (Luke 2:41-52)

Even as a twelve-year-old Jesus recognized His mission. He longed to be in the sweet spot of God’s will. Mary and Joseph did not really understand this. In the same way, others may not understand us when we seek to honor God fully. But our passion for the things of the Lord will put us in tune with Him.

Wholehearted Obedience (Genesis 22:1-19)

God desires our complete yieldedness. It doesn’t matter whether things are going as we expect. He may require more of us than we think possible. But anything less than our full obedience shortchanges God’s plan.

The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10)

4th century priest John Chrysotom called the Beatitudes “the golden chain.” He said that each blessing flowed from the ones before. Pastor Bruce gives an overview of these eight famous sayings of Jesus. Then he shows how they combine to create a unified teaching from our Lord.

Flip Your Life (2 Kings 18:4-6)

King Hezekiah did good in God’s sight. Early in his reign he cleaned house spiritually. He tore down the idols and high places. He even destroyed a venerated object constructed by Moses. Hezekiah knew this was necessary to bring his nation back to God. Using this good king’s actions as a template, Pastor Bruce shares how we can do the same in our lives.
